I have played MH (PS2), MHF (PSP), MHF2 (PSP), and MH3 (Wii)

I just don't have any of these games or consoles any more (this point in time) Razz

I see, well the upcoming series are deffenetly exciting, although I do not entirely like the games so far since of the scaling down of the difficulty and the brightening of the graphics, the game itself seems very interesting.

No I said they are scaling down the difficulcy to strike a bigger audience, wich is good ofcource since there will be more hunters.
Yet the game will be a little bit less challenging to veteran hunters.

Yes, they do it to attract more people to the game.

It's a said truth as the difficulty is what attracted me to the series. Hopefully doing solo runs of event quests will provide the thrill veteran hunters seek. (If all else fails, there's always heroics).

I remember the PS2 (MH1) version was so fun and challenging. It was difficult though because you didn't have a farm to gather materials for you so you had to do LV* quests for materials like blue mushroom and honey.

I remember struggling with the Yian Kut-ku lol I eventually used a bow gun on a ledge and kept shooting it forever. took like 30 mins.

I also was stuck on the "Land Shark" quest for the longest time (LV**** urgent I think?) back when they had Cepholos.

And then the Rathalos, it wasn't as tough for me for some reason but took many attempts. My winning strategy was a poison sns and I would hold sheild and just kept slowly striking his feet Laughing I think I only had like 2 minutes before the timer would run up.

Welcome to the forum Death Punch!

Glad you are returning to the series on March with the release of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.
I do quite remember those days in the early MH games. They were pretty difficult. Especially that quest pretty early in MHF (PSP) where you had to slay 10-20 Bullfangos in the Forest and Hills. Most of the MH games now have been drastically toned down due to CAPCOM wanting more people to be attracted to it and not scared away by the difficulty. Also most of the difficulty of the past games is due to horrible hitboxes which were in fact just invisible boxes around the monsters that would cause damage if they hit you. In the later games the hitboxes are now more in the shape of the actual monster so it is not as unfair (I'm looking at you Plesioth) .

The newer games, nonetheless, are still looking awesome as MH has always been Razz

Right yeah

As a Lancemen, such hitbox difference were minuscule for me. Though the Plesioth does violate this a lot (think if your close enough he can still hit you with hip thrust even from opposite side). Yeah the early versions were more difficult, but it really "weeded" (if you will) out players form being attracted to the series. I found the difficultly enriching and rewarding. I would of made the difficulty changes if I was the company is well, more fanbase and $$$. Despite the changes, the series specially provides many challenges (specially through the first clear).

Thank you all for welcoming me to your small but loud community forum page!
